Baking Soda

Many choose vinegar over bleach or other chemicals because it is 100% natural and safe. It does not emit any dangerous fumes into your home like most chemicals do. Like bleach, it can also kill and prevent future mould growth, but only if applied regularly to areas prone to mould around your home. When cleaning with vinegar, gather these items and follow the steps:
- Scrubbing brush
- Plain water and clean cloths
Step One: Pour the vinegar into the dry spray bottle and spray a good amount on to the mould-infested areas. Allow it to sit for an hour before you move on to the next step.
Step Two: Using a clean cloth soaked in plain water, wipe away the mould from the walls and ceilings. You can also use a scrubbing brush with firm bristles as it is more effective in removing hardened fungus and stains.
Step Three: Use a dry, absorbent cloth to soak up moisture by dabbing or pressing against the cleaned areas. Keep the windows open to dry the area quicker and allow the vinegar smell to go out.

This reduces the surface area available for condensation, which reduces mold as a result.

What Not To Use Bleach
The goal of mold cleaning is not to kill mold, or even to disinfect a surface or material, but rather to remove mold from a surface. Think of mold more like dirt. If you had a wall with dirt on it, would you simply spray it with bleach and consider it cleaned? Of course not.
Bleach is a combination of chemicals used to kill bacteria and whiten clothes, floors, and walls. Bleach contains sodium hypochlorite which is toxic to bacteria, fish, and human beings. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency discourages the use of bleach and biocides for mold cleaning.3
Of course, there are more reasons to avoid bleach. Bleach is designed to kill bacteria, and will not completely remove a mold problem. Molds are fungi and they can, and will, grow back after bleaching.
Why Does Mold Grow On My Bathroom Ceiling

Spray Problem Areas With Vinegar
Fill the bottle with undiluted white vinegar and spray the problem areas. Spray the entire ceiling, not just the moldy areas, as the beginnings of an area of black mold growth are invisible to the naked eye. Let the undiluted vinegar soak for at least an hour, rinse, and repeat. This will start to remove the stains.
Mold Is All Over The Bathroom Ceiling
After a long summer day I finally made it upstairs and planned on retiring for the night. Just then I heard my wife call out from her shower Mold is all over the bathroom ceiling. I had noticed some small black spots on the ceiling but ignored them. Now I was looking at a garden of multi-colored mold spots spread across areas right above the shower stall. Ultimately I was able to get the solution sprayed all over the ceiling and began scrubbing vigorously at the mold stain marks. After that ordeal the surface mold was removed but the stains were still there. I figured that the mold must have discolored the paint on the ceiling and I would need a painter to apply a fresh coating of paint.
