Home Armor Fg502 Instant Mold And Mildew Stain Remover
Back to sprays, this is the home Armor FG502 Instant Mold and Mildew Stain Remover. This spray is a definite competitor to the Tilex spray we mentioned earlier in that this Home Armor remover is also made of a bleach formula which contains hydrogen peroxides and is also quite heavy-duty. Manufactured in the United States, this mold remover is also advertised as one that requires no scrubbing. And yes, in most standard situations this mold remover just needs to be sprayed over the infestation and it will just melt through the mold like hot water through sugar. In more dire situations, however, one where the mold has reached extreme proportions, dont think that you wont have to do some scrubbing as well.
One negative thing that can be said about this product in comparison with the previous two black mold removers is that while it is impressively powerful, it doesnt do as much when it comes to protecting the surface from future contaminations.
This Home Armor spray is strictly a remover, so while it does its job perfectly, dont be surprised if you have to remove mold again in several months .
- Extremely powerful, cleans through anything with no or a very little amount of scrubbing
- Not awfully expensive

Cleaning Black Mold With Citric Acid
Your local Whole Foods or co-op should have crystallized citric acid on hand and it is relatively inexpensive. Use about 1 cup of acid to 1.5 gallons of hot water. You are able to wring out your mop a little and spread it on lightly, but the chances of it evaporating before you get around to scrubbing increase when you use less. Soak the floor if you have a large room and need time to do all the scrubbing. Letting the acid soak a little will also give it time to break up mineral deposits, dirt, rust and of course the black mold.
You will need to rinse a number of times with citric acid, it does not come up as easily as other products but its much safer around small children. Cleaning a tile floor with citric acid is not only environmentally friendly, its incredibly effective. You may already be familiar with the orange hand cleaner products, they use citric acid for cleaning as well.

Because fungus loves to flourish on damp areas, make sure rooms with regular water exposure like the kitchen and bathroom are well-ventilated. Dehumidifiers are helpful is small rooms with high humidity levels. Always check for leaking pipes as well, which are a major cause of household mold. Preventing mold in the basement is a bit trickier. Youll need to make sure ground water runs away from your home to prevent it from collecting near the basement. Check that sprinklers and downspouts arent depositing water near the basement walls or windows. Prevent condensation on basement water pipes by wrapping them. Use an exhaust fan in the bathrooms of your home after showering. Finally, keep the humidity in your basement below 60%. Running a dehumidifier downstairs may be your only option if you live in an area with high humidity.

Mold Removal Using Bleach
Bleach kills virtually every species of indoor mold that it comes into contact with including mold spores which leaves a sanitized surface making it resistant to future mold growth. However, bleach is only effective if the mold is growing on non-porous materials such as tiles, bathrubs, glass and countertops.
Bleach is unable to penetrate into porous materials such as wood and drywall which means it cannot get rid of mold growing beneath the surface of these materials. If you use bleach to kill mold on these surfaces it will only kill the mold above the surface. It will be unable to reach the mold within the material and the mold will soon return.
Bleach is a harsh, corrosive chemical which means it can damage the materials it is used on. It also gives off harsh fumes and produces toxic gases when mixed with ammonia. There are safer alternatives such as borax or vinegar which dont produce the dangerous fumes or leave behind toxic residue.
