  • 1Create a vinegar solution for a safe, non-toxic mold killer. White vinegar is a great way to remove mold from a variety of different surfaces. Pour the vinegar directly into a spray bottle to use it. It doesnt need to be diluted at all, as it is the most effective when it isnt watered down. You dont need to rinse away the vinegar after you have used it.XResearch source
  • Although the smell can be unpleasant, it usually clears within 1-2 hours. You can open a window or turn on a fan to help the smell disappear faster.
  • 2Use a Borax solution for a natural mold remover. Borax is a natural insecticide and fungicide. Mix together 1 cup of Borax with 1 US gal of water and then pour the solution into a spray bottle. Simply spray the solution directly on the surface you want to clean. Borax doesnt need to be rinsed off, as it can prevent more mold from growing in the future.XResearch source
  • You can find Borax in the laundry section of grocery stores. It is a white mineral powder.
  • Borax is dangerous to consume, but unlike bleach, it doesn’t release toxic fumes.
  • Always wear gloves when working with bleach and keep the area well-ventilated to avoid inhaling the fumes.
  • Bleach can cause eye, lung, and skin irritations.XResearch source

But what about the mold that you can’t see? How do you find or even know it’s there? Mold and mildew offer some signs even if you can’t visually see it. Here are a few of the most common signs of mold in your bathroom:

    • Cracked, warped, or buckled material can be a sign that mold is causing this damage.
    • An earthy, musty scent that’s mildly distasteful.
    • Physical symptoms in yourself or other family members from the list above.

Remember to regularly clean it in a washing machine or in a large bucket. You can soak the curtain in a mixture of warm water, bleach and washing detergent. A non-toxic option is adding baking soda and vinegar into a solution of washing liquid and water.

You may need to do this more than once, as plastic blocks water, or scrub the curtain with a brush. If that doesnt work, you may need to replace it.

Always remember to dry the shower curtain thoroughly once youve cleaned it and removed the mould.

How to Remove Black Mold from a Bathroom Ceiling

Wrong! Smelling good does NOT indicate that something is clean! In fact fragrance can be anything in a product that gives it a smell from essential oils from plants to industrial petrochemicals.7 Cleaning and personal care product manufacturers are required to list their ingredients on the label of the products.7 However, because of a loophole in government regulations , they are not required to list any fragrance ingredients.10 This means that they can use any chemical they choose to add smell to a product, including dangerous, allergenic, and even toxic chemicals.10 To learn more about hidden fragrance chemicals in personal care products go to: EWG Not so Sexy Hidden Chemicals in Perfume and Cologne.10

Our government does not regulate personal care products or cleaning products in a way that allows consumers to have all the facts about a product before they use it.7 Because of this, we urge you to learn all you can before using any product in your home. Mold Is All Over The Bathroom Ceiling

    Bathroom Ceiling Mold Removal #syracuseny #moldtesting # ...

After a long summer day I finally made it upstairs and planned on retiring for the night. Just then I heard my wife call out from her shower Mold is all over the bathroom ceiling. I had noticed some small black spots on the ceiling but ignored them. Now I was looking at a garden of multi-colored mold spots spread across areas right above the shower stall. What was interesting to me was that I didnt have any other mold issues in my home and the problem was localized to the shower stall area. The shower door bumpers were turning coral red and the sealant along the shower stall had become all rusty. It was quite clear that there was a mold issue that needed to be taken care of.

That night I got into old clothing and took with me an extendable tub & tile scrubber along with some Clorox bleach spray cleaner. Spraying bleach on the bathroom ceiling is no easy feat. The aerosol particles can go into your eyes and get breathed in rather easily. Ultimately I was able to get the solution sprayed all over the ceiling and began scrubbing vigorously at the mold stain marks. After that ordeal the surface mold was removed but the stains were still there. I figured that the mold must have discolored the paint on the ceiling and I would need a painter to apply a fresh coating of paint.
