Also, between-shower spray downs can be very quick and simple too. Once you are done with your shower simply mist the surfaces with your spray bottle and continue about your day. The ventilation in the room will dry up the humidity, and any surfaces that remain wet or moist will have vinegar or bleach to prevent the growth of mold and mildew.

While baking soda will not kill mold, it can be used after cleaning to remove moisture from any clean shower caulk and prevent future mold growth. This can be done with a solution in a spray bottle with water or with a baking soda paste. You dont have to rinse the product off, as you want it to sit and deter mold.

How Do You Remove Mold From Shower Caulking
Depending on how widespread your mold infestation is, theres a fairy simple remedy to eradicating the problem.
Step #1 Gather suppliesYoull need bleach, a mask, gloves, toilet paper and vinegar for this process.
Step 2: Start by first venting the area by opening up a nearby window and put on a mask and gloves. Then you want to take bleach and pour it directly onto the mold on the caulk.
Next take toilet paper, or cotton balls depending on how large the area of mold is, and place directly on the caulk. If youre using toilet paper, you want to roll up the toilet paper into a thin snake basically and set it on the caulk. Using toilet paper or cotton balls keeps the bleach where it needs to be and wont allow it to evaporate.
Step 3: let this sit for 12 hours or overnight. Since bleach is so strong, Id do this first thing in the morning, that way you can allow the windows to stay open all day, ventilating the space.
Step 4: Remove the toilet paper or cotton balls. You should find that the mold has vanished.
If you only had a minor mold problem to begin with, you can stop here. However, if your mold issue was fairly large, continue on to the next steps.
Put vinegar in a spray bottle and spray area affected with mold.
Let sit for a couple of hours. Then rinse with warm water.
If caulk doesnt come off easily, apply caulk remover to allow caulk to loosen from tub and tiles. Use a utility knife to remove the caulk once its softened.

These are also excellent methods, but in MY opinion, they didnt work quite as well as the bleach solution. I PREFER to use no chemicals in the house, but sometimes, when it comes to mold and health, bleach is my go-to.

Apply A New Layer Of Caulk
Spread new caulk with a a caulking gun. Insert a tube of silicone caulk into the gun, cut the tip about 1/2 inch from the end and insert a 16d nail to break the seal. Lay a continuous bead by drawing the gun toward you as you depress the trigger, and tool the bead by running your finger over it to create a concave surface. Let the caulk cure for 24 hours before using the shower.

- While not technically a part of the shower, mold can grow on a shower curtain.
Mold can also grow behind shower tiles and on the wall but this is due to a leak behind the shower and not from water in the shower typically. The exception is if your grout is old and cracking. Then water can seep behind the shower tiles allowing mold to grow.
