Because, you know what? Many people were right. I hadnt really removed the mold in the caulking, but had just bleached it, because it most certainly came back after about 9 months or so!

But, the caulking is NOT the only place that black mold grows in a shower! Black mold grows on the shower ceiling, on the shower wall, around the shower drain, on a shower curtain, and on shower grout.

How To Remove Mold From Grout

Wondering how to clean mold from grout using these materials? Play around with these steps and see which one works best for your shower grout.

Begin with Vinegar

Fill a spray bottle with a 1:1 ratio of vinegar and water, then spray the affected areas of your shower and let the solution sit for about 5-10 minutes. Scrub thoroughly using either one of the above brushes, then rinse with warm water.

Follow up with Baking Soda and Vinegar

Although many people prefer using both vinegar and baking soda separately, cleaning mold with vinegar and baking soda together is most effective. For starters, mix baking soda and water in a bowl. Then dip your brush inside the paste and proceed to work your way through the grout. Spray the vinegar solution to remove that nasty buildup and then rinse with warm water.

Is the Mold still not Coming Out? Try Hydrogen Peroxide or Bleach

If you have really tough mold on your shower grout, then hydrogen peroxide or bleach might be the game-changer. Many people are very skeptical about the effectiveness of bleach. Cleaning grout with hydrogen peroxide might be better than cleaning grout with bleach because of several reasons.

The effervescent nature of hydrogen peroxide makes it more effective at getting rid of mold from shower grout than bleach. Its also affordable and readily available in stores, and most tiles get discolored by bleach, which makes most people prefer hydrogen peroxide from bleach, but that doesnt mean that it is not as effective.

How To Remove Mold From Non

After cleaning the bathroom, it is time to get to work with the homemade cleaning solutions. Start with the shower, tub, and other non-porous surfaces.

These materials are smooth, allowing you to wipe the surface clean with a rag after applying the solution.

Choose one of the cleaning mixtures discussed and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray the entire surface that you want to clean until it is evenly coated but avoid spraying enough to create pools of liquid.

You can spray every surface is in the bathroom, including the inside of the shower and the tub surround or walls.

It should also work on the grout and caulk. However, you may need to scrub those areas after cleaning the non-porous surface.

If you do not have a spray bottle, pour the cleaning mixture into a bucket. Use a disposable towel or old rag to apply the solution on the affected surfaces.

Allow the cleaning mixture to set for several minutes and then wipe clean with cloths or rags. As you wipe the surface, the mold should come right off. Replace or rinse the cloth or rag when it gets dirty.

In some areas, the mold may remain. To get the tough patches of mold, spray more of the cleaning solution and then scrub clean with an old toothbrush or scrubby brush.

When you are satisfied with the mold removal, use the baking soda solution to disinfect all the surfaces and kill any microscopic mold spores.

Open Windows And Doors

Encourage airflow through the bathroom by leaving the door open all the time when the room is unoccupied. Whenever possible, open the bathroom window as well to maximize airflow, especially if its dry and sunny outside.

How To Remove Mold From Grout With Bleach

Chlorine bleach is the most commonly used cleaning agent when it comes to DIY mold grout removal. It works well and not only kills the mold spores, but also disinfects the area and removes the buildup of soap residue from the tiles and grout.

• Mix one part bleach to four parts water in a spray bottle
• Spray the affected area, wait for about 30 minutes, then scrub vigorously with a brush
• Rinse with cool, clear water. Repeat the process, if necessary.

Method 2:

• Use a stiff bristle toothbrush to scrub bleach directly onto the moldy grout
• Let the bleach sit for about 15-30 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Repeat as needed.

Warning:

• Bleach causes fading and discoloration, so it should not be used on colored tiles or colored grout
• The fumes from bleach can be irritating to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract, so you need to wear a mask, safety glasses, and rubber gloves when using it. Keep the room well ventilated during the cleaning process and let the windows open for a couple of hours afterwards to make sure that all harmful fumes have left the room.

Knock Out Your Shower Mold With Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is an antifungal agent and cuts right through your mold problem. Peroxide attacks mold and bubbles it away you can apply peroxide to clean mold in the bathroom if vinegar doesnt do the job.

This recipe shows you how to get rid of black mold in shower tiles and curtains safely and efficiently with peroxide.

• 1 pair of rubber gloves
• Cleaning pad

Combine water and peroxide in the spray bottle. Spray the solution on affected spots, and let it sit for a few minutes. Scrub the places with the pad, rinse, and dry. Wear old clothes when using peroxide, as peroxide spills can stain.

If you recently replaced the grout in your tile, you may have leftover residue on your tiles. Cleaning grout haze is easy with this peroxide and water recipe. Wipe the solution on the tiles to remove grout haze and leave your tiles shining again.

How To Prevent Mold In Grout

The drier the tiles, the smaller the chance of mold developing in the grout lines.
