For decks: remove items from surface and sweep to remove loose debris. You do not need to cover surrounding plants or grass as Concrobium House and Deck Wash is completely non-toxic and chemical free.

Shake or invert jug several times before spraying.

Attach garden hose to nozzle ensuring valve is in OFF position.

Adjust valve to MIX setting and spray on target area.

For fences, work from the ground up and allow to sit for 3-5 minutes.

For decks, spray on target area, let sit for 3-4 minutes and scrub with a stiff bristled brush.

Do not allow to dry.

How To Remove Moss And Algae From Wood

To remove moss and algae from stained, painted, or untreated wood lumber:

Create a deck cleaning solution by combining one gallon of warm tap water and ¾ cup of chlorine bleach together in a clean bucket.

For a strongly-covered mossy area, add an extra cup of ammonia-free laundry detergent powder for extra effect.

Gently pour the solution onto your deck, covering the moss and/or algae and allow it to sit for about 20 minutes.

Use a hard-bristled scrub brush or shop broom to scrub away the moss and algae from the deck board surface.

Rinse the wood surface with a garden hose or tap water to remove solution or moss residue. You may use a power washer, but remember to use a fanning nozzle as it will prevent damage to your paint, stain, or wood.

Let the space air dry completely.

Thanks for the question Linda.

If the mold is ONLY the cosmetic black mold that we describe

at BLACK COSMETIC MOLD then it really is only cosmetic and could be left in place.

There are two difficulties with this:

First you may have trouble recognizing the cosmetic mold I describe in that article, though sometimes the growth patterns make it clear. To address this you could spend roughly $50. to send a representative tape sample of the mold to a mold test lab for confirmation.
Second, while the black mold I describe is indeed harmless on framing lumber and virtually always came in on the lumber from the lumber yard, also one wants toWatch out: in some cases, particularly on lumber that has been wet, or on treated lumber, my own field and lab tests have found Aspergillus sp. and Penicillium sp. growing among the harmless black mold.

So we might want to clean the lumber.

I tend to stay away from labor intensive approaches and from incomplete approaches . Keep us posted and send along some photos if you can as what you learn may help others.
