    Clean Mold Off Silicone Caulking

A second option is to clean the mold off of the caulking. This is only recommended if the mold is very limited in size and growth. I would say anything that is less than five or six inches in length can be cleaned, then monitored to see if the mold comes back. If it does come back I would remove the silicone caulking and replace it with fresh caulking.

When you replace the caulking you should investigate the type of caulking you use. There are some new brands of caulking that are mold resistant or are treated with a chemical that kills mold. • Mold can grow in the grout. That is one of its favorite places.
    • It can grow inside the window frame if your window is IN the shower like mine is.
    • It can grow around the drain and on the drain plug.
    • Mold can grow on the shower caulking.
    • It can grow in the door tracks if you have doors.
    • Mold can grow under shampoo bottles, bars of soap, shaving cream bottles, etc
    • While not technically a part of the shower, mold can grow on a shower curtain.

Mold can also grow behind shower tiles and on the wall but this is due to a leak behind the shower and not from water in the shower typically. The exception is if your grout is old and cracking. Then water can seep behind the shower tiles allowing mold to grow.

And Product : Mold Mildew Cleaner Gel

Here is a very common thing to see. My old mid-80s white tile in my guest shower and bathroom has accumulated black mold over the years. And of course, I have been lazy at cleaning it, and my roommates I had didnt clean it either.

Normal shower and bathroom cleaning mold and mildew removable sprays would not work. All the scrubbing in the world wouldnt work.

Then I found this Mold MildewCleaner Gel from Gelivable. It was a bit expensive but worth it. I liked the idea of the cleaning gel staying put on the grout instead of running down and not staying on the actual black moldy grout lines.

To use the gel, remove the cap, and then squeeze a bead of gel over the moldy areas. The gel will stay put. Then all you do is allow it to work its magic. Allow it to stay on the black mold for at least 5 hours, you may need to let it stay even longer.

This black mold spot on my shower tile had been there for many years. So I left the gel on for about 8 hours.

The results were absolutely remarkable. Years of caked-on hard-to-clean, stubborn black mold, gone. Next, all you do is wipe it off with a damp paper towel or washcloth and then rinse it really well.

There you have it, method 1 is a super success for this particular type of black mold situation.

Causes Of Mold On Shower Caulk

You can find mold and mildew inside homes in places like bathrooms, kitchens, and basements. Mold can find a foothold in any moist environment, making showers the perfect place for this troublesome fungus.

Mold is the fungus family and requires moisture and food to grow. It gets the latter from grime and soap scum that builds up on shower surfaces, including caulk. These tiny spores can spread with ease in a bathroom and grow quickly when left unchecked.

Bathrooms with poor ventilation are a prime target for mold. While unsightly when it begins to grow, it can also pose health problems.
