    What Is Black Mold

Black mold, or Stachybotrys atra, is a black and green fungus that can fuel symptoms of illness in susceptible people. Its components release catalysts for mycotoxicosis, or black mold poisoning, which may occur with inhalation of these elements.

Symptoms include coughing, wheezing, runny nose, red eyes and nosebleed asthmatics and people with weakened immune systems are less resistant to the effects and can experience persistence coughing, allergic reactions, anxiety and lethargy.

Black mold grows around cabinets and water fixtures amid its requirements for moisture the good news is that that moisture dampens downward, preventing it from contaminating the air. The bad is that its colossally unsightly, staining cabinets and sink undersides with slime and discoloration.

What Is The Reason For Molding Growth

As a result of moist wallboard and surface, mold may be forming on your caulking in some circumstances. This is the result of poor construction in the bathroom or bathtub area. Moisture can be caught in the walls due to poor grout, misplaced tiles, and unsuitable insulation.

Though, moisture is the most common cause of mold growth, hence silicone is utilized as a moisture barrier. Silicone sealants are frequently utilized to prevent moisture from getting in, which means they will be in contact with the main cause of mold growth in standing water. But still, mold and mildew can grow in a siliconized area.

Remember to regularly clean it in a washing machine or in a large bucket. You can soak the curtain in a mixture of warm water, bleach and washing detergent. A non-toxic option is adding baking soda and vinegar into a solution of washing liquid and water.

Important Tips On How You Can Prevent Growth Of Mold

Molds are not something that should be taken lightly. The toxic effect in them is harmful to your health. It is said that prevention is better than cure and thats why you should be intentional about preventing black mold or any other type of mold from growing in your home.

Are you wondering how you can go about that? Here are tips that will ensure your caulk, bathroom, or other areas are free from mold.

    • Use Household Fan

Fans are common equipment in most homes and they play a great role in ensuring your house is free from moisture or smoke.

A good example is when you are boiling some water and the water vapor spreads to your kitchen walls. If you dont do something the vapor will not only cause the growth of mold but will also increase humidity. However, you can prevent that from happening with a fan.

    • Keep The Windows Open

When the vapor is held in the air, it will settle on your doors or windows and walls. This will increase the chances of mold growth in your home. However, you can prevent this by keeping the windows open to get rid of the vapor quickly.

This will ensure there is enough air circulation and also the regulation of humidity in the house. In case its winter time and you dont want to expose your family to cold, standing or ceiling fans might come in handy in curbing the vapor and humidity.

    • Check Outdoor Drainage

This is another great tip when it comes to the prevention of mold. If your home is located along a water path, you might have problems with mold.

    Products Purchased For Mold Removal

If you were to lookfor cleaning products that remove and clean away mold you wont go home emptyhanded.

    But, do they workand how?

Ive looked at afew products especially when it comes to mold as it seems to be a commonproblem but one that seems difficult to resolve.

If there was asimple remedy, then so many products wouldnt be available.

I tried Astonish mold removal spray and I must admit it seems to work, the mold does go away but the product smells bleachy and this tell me that in some places the mold will come back.

Its relativelycheap and if you are looking for a quick fix this might be the solution thatyou go for.

This companydoesnt test on animals and the product is vegan friendly.

Another product that is highly recommended but one I havent tried is HG Mould spray, this product is not tested on animals. Ive been told is very good at removing mold, but its not one that Ive tried.

There are other variations on the market of similar products but again Ive not tried them, but beware if they contain bleach it might just be masking the problem rather than removing it completely.

How To Remove Caulking From Sink

Do you want to remove caulk from your sink? Well, with plenty of patience, this task will be just easy to perform and it will pay off by making things much easier. Here are the steps that you can take:

    1. To start off with the old caulk removal process easily, you should use a caulk removal solution that will unmake the bond between the caulk and the sink. A liquid caulk removal solution usually comes in a plastic squeeze bottle that will remove more than 20 linear feet of caulk. This is a great means to soften up and remove the old caulk as opposed to only relying on scraping it manually. To use the solution, squeeze the remover out of the bottle onto the old caulk, while making sure the old caulk is covered completely, and then let it set for 2 to 7 hours or as long as directed by the manufacturer. If it is particularly more difficult to remove the caulk, such as when it is very old, hardened and has multiple layers, you can wait for about 24 hours to let the solution set.

    3. Clean the sink surface with soap and water or alcohol and then get rid of any mildew and mold with a mixture of a small amount of bleach and a gallon of water. Allow things to completely dry out before you apply the new caulk.
